The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living by carrying out assassinations for the highest fee
He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who pursues him in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “Day of the Jackal” was set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then President of France, Charles de Gaulle.
A remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973)
The show moves the setting to the present day. In my opinion, the series is worth watching, especially because Eddie Redmayne’s performance as the assassin is simply excellent.
He also proves very convincing as someone who really knows his way around weapons and even in the action scenes he shows strength, dynamism and quick decision-making ability
He embodies his role in an incredibly versatile way, in one scene he is very natural and loving as a family man, in another scene he is completely calculating and cold as ice, and you can totally believe his very different facial expressions. The female lead of secret agent Bianca, on the other hand, is unfortunately a very flat role of a woman who can only do punches and not do subtle things, in my opinion.
She also has unnecessary family scenes that completely distract from the actual plot
She is very ruthless, both with her own family and with her sources, and she has much more screen time than the Jackal, which unfortunately lessens the tension more often than not. I find her plot too broad and her role too unsympathetic to find the series 100% good.

But since Eddie’s performance is so excellent and the series is of incredibly high aesthetic quality, with great city and landscape scenes and top-notch James Bond-style music, I think it’s worth watching. A new season of “Silo” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
