Brazilian racing legend who won the Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship three times
Narrative
A fictional miniseries based on the life of Ayrton Senna da Silva. The writers of this series have said that they had some restrictions due to the involvement of Senna’s family in the production. Senna’s early career races in England are shown on a racetrack next to a mountain range. There are no mountains in England – especially Norfolk, which is famous for its flat landscape. It is quite obvious that the Senna – Da Silva family had a hand in this and a very strict hand.
It is dull and superficial
Senna is portrayed as a saint. He is always friendly and nice and endures everything that is done to him. There are no conflicts except with Prost and Balestre. The dialogue is so incredibly flat that any daily soap is literature. I want to be first.
He is the best
I am the fastest. I want to win. But it is dangerous! But I want to win. But you have already won.
Didn’t he have vices?
But I want to win again. What about Senna’s women’s stories? That would have had potential. There are no such people. But when his mother is involved in writing the script …
Yes, of course
His parents also come across as saints. Always understanding, always patient, kind, gentle and noble. The action shots are top-notch, though. Not exactly groundbreaking, but very impressive. The sound design in particular was fantastic.
