After the untimely death of his father, a boy is left in the eerie solitude of a large country estate with his recently widowed stepmother. His stepmother, struggling to cope with the overwhelming task of parenthood, drifts away from him, and their fragile bond threatens to break. Amid the mounting tension, the boy begins to hear ominous sounds echoing through the hallways and is soon pursued by the presence of a grotesque creature that bears an uncanny resemblance to his deceased father. As the boy’s warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, the sinister entity tightens its grip on their crumbling lives.
