Narrative
A two-hour window into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, the documentary follows six long years of work on the creation of the Japanese animation master’s latest film, The Boy and the Heron. a touching and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa can closely follow the creative process of Hayao Miyazaki during the making of The Boy and the Heron. He does a great job mixing scenes from Miyazaki’s films with real people involved in the making of the film and people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Helsinki International Film Festival Love & Anarchy. Some moments made the audience laugh out loud, and at times people swept their levels. I hope Miyazaki can make more movies. I cannot recommend this documentary enough to any ghibli fan.
